Episode 25
Summary
With Ed and Ein gone, Spike and Jet are attacked by Red Dragon gunmen targeting everyone associated with Vicious. Shin, brother of the late Lin, saves them and explains that Vicious's failed coup has triggered a purge. Jet is wounded, and the Bebop comes under sustained assault. Elsewhere, Faye rescues a woman fleeing syndicate killers and discovers that she is Julia. Knowing Faye travels with Spike, Julia asks her to deliver a message naming the cemetery where they once planned to meet. Flashbacks reveal that Spike and Julia intended to escape the syndicate together, but Vicious ordered Julia to kill Spike or die beside him. Faye returns to the Bebop and hesitates, afraid that delivering the message will pull Spike permanently away, yet she finally tells him. Jet, despite understanding the danger, urges Spike to recover what he has spent years searching for. At the same time, Vicious awaits execution for treason. Loyal conspirators stage an explosion, free him, and eliminate the syndicate elders, allowing him to seize control. Spike reaches the cemetery and finds Julia waiting. Their reunion begins with her gun aimed at him, while the organization that separated them is now entirely controlled by their greatest enemy.
Episode 26
Summary
Julia lowers her weapon and tells Spike that Vicious forced her to choose between killing him and being killed herself. She fled instead, living in hiding until the syndicate's civil war made escape impossible. The two try to resume their abandoned plan, but Annie has been mortally wounded, and Red Dragon gunmen surround her shop. Spike and Julia fight their way out; during the escape, Julia is shot and dies in Spike's arms. Spike returns to the Bebop, where he and Jet share one last meal and a quiet laugh. Faye tries to stop him from leaving, arguing that she recovered her memories only to discover there was nowhere to return. Spike answers that he is not going to die but to discover whether he is truly alive. He storms Red Dragon headquarters, aided briefly by Shin, who is killed during the assault. At the top of the tower, Spike and Vicious duel with sword and gun. Both are gravely wounded, but Spike kills Vicious. He descends toward the surviving syndicate members, raises a hand like a pistol, says “bang,” and collapses. The series ends without confirming whether he rises again.
