Arlong becomes enraged as Luffy tears apart Nami's map room and attacks with Kiribachi, a massive saw-edged sword. The fish-man captain uses his strength and speed to drive Luffy through walls, then launches himself from the water like a living torpedo. Luffy is cut and battered but continues wrecking the tower, refusing to let Arlong preserve the place where Nami was enslaved. Arlong argues that fish-men are naturally superior to humans and that Nami's intelligence proves she should serve the strongest race. Luffy rejects the idea that ability gives anyone ownership over another person. Below, Sanji, Zoro, and Usopp can only watch because their own fights have left them badly wounded. Nezumi waits nearby, hoping to claim credit once the battle ends, while the villagers stand ready to resist if Luffy falls. Nami clutches the straw hat and remembers the years she spent alone at the desk above them. Luffy uses the building's walls and beams to redirect Arlong's attacks, gradually creating an opening. The conflict reaches its final exchange as Arlong prepares to crush him and Luffy raises an enlarged foot over the collapsing tower.
