Luffy brings his giant foot down through Arlong Park, smashing Arlong through the map room and collapsing the tower. The fish-man captain is defeated, and the headquarters that represented eight years of oppression falls around him. For several tense moments, the villagers fear Luffy has been buried as well. He emerges from the rubble and shouts that Nami is his crewmate, finally allowing her to cry with relief. Cocoyashi Village celebrates its freedom while the surviving fish-men are taken into custody. Nezumi attempts to confiscate Arlong's treasure and arrest the pirates, but the battered Straw Hats drive him away. Humiliated, he reports Luffy to Marine headquarters and ensures that the young captain receives his first bounty. Nami removes Arlong's tattoo, though the doctor preserves part of its design and transforms it into a pinwheel-and-tangerine symbol honoring Genzo and Bellemere. Zoro, Sanji, and Usopp recover among the villagers, and Luffy eats through the celebration. The victory restores Nami's home but also forces her to decide whether to remain there or continue sailing. Her bond with the crew has become public and undeniable, ending the isolation on which Arlong depended.
