The sight of three White Whales breaks the allied army’s morale, but Subaru studies their movements and notices that each shares the same injured eye. He concludes that two are weaker copies controlled by the original, which is staying safely above the battle. Subaru rallies the soldiers by refusing to accept despair as a reason to stop. Rem launches him skyward on an ice platform so he can taunt the true whale and amplify the Witch’s scent at close range. As the monster dives after him, Rem catches Subaru and carries him toward the Flugel Tree. The army uses magic and explosives to cut the enormous trunk at the planned moment, crushing the whale beneath it. Wilhelm emerges alive and delivers the killing assault, avenging Theresia and causing the copies to disappear. With the legendary mabeast defeated, Subaru immediately turns toward the Witch Cult attack that will soon strike Arlam Village. Crusch and Anastasia provide knights and mercenaries despite their casualties. Wilhelm, Felix, Ricardo, Mimi, and others join the operation, while injured soldiers and Rem remain behind. Subaru then discovers that Julius will also fight under his command.
